3And the Lord was with Josaphat, for he walked in the first ways of his father , and did not seek to idols;
3Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals,
4but he sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in the commandments of his father, and not according to the works of Israel.
4but sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not in the ways of Israel.

7Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;
8And with them [were] the Levites, Samaias, and Nathanias, and Zabdias, and Asiel, and Semiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonias, and Tobias, and Tobadonias, Levites, and with them Elisama and Joram, the priests.
8and with them Levites, even Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9And they taught in Juda, and [there was] with them the book of the law of the Lord, and they passed through the cities of Juda, and taught the people.
9They taught in Judah, having the book of Yahweh’s law with them. They went about throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.
10And a terror of the Lord was upon all the kingdoms of the land round about Juda, and they made no war against Josaphat.
10The fear of Yahweh fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
11And [some] of the Philistines brought to Josaphat gifts, and silver, and presents; and the Arabians brought him seven thousand seven hundred rams .
11Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver for tribute. The Arabians also brought him flocks: seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.
12And Josaphat increased in greatness exceedingly, and built in Judea places of abode, and strong cities .
12Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.
13And he had many works in Judea: and the mighty men of war, [the men] of strength, [were] in Jerusalem.

14And this [is] their number according to the houses of their fathers; even the captains of thousands in Juda [were], Ednas the chief, and with him mighty men of strength three hundred thousand.
14This was the numbering of them according to their fathers’ houses: From Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor;
15And after him, Joanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand.
15and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand;
16And after him Amasias the [son] of Zari, who was zealous for the Lord; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of strength.
16and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Yahweh, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
