1(103) [A Psalm] of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all [that is] within me, [bless] his holy name.
1A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before Yahweh. Hear my prayer, Yahweh! Let my cry come to you.
2Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his praises:
2Don’t hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn your ear to me. Answer me quickly in the day when I call.
3who forgives all your transgressions, who heals all your diseases;
3For my days consume away like smoke. My bones are burned as a torch.
4who redeems your life from corruption; who crowns you with mercy and compassion;
4My heart is blighted like grass, and withered, for I forget to eat my bread.
5who satisfies your desire with good things: [so that] your youth shall be renewed like [that] of the eagle.
5By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones stick to my skin.
6The Lord executes mercy and judgment for all that are injured.
6I am like a pelican of the wilderness. I have become as an owl of the waste places.
7He made known his ways to Moses, his will to the children of Israel.
7I watch, and have become like a sparrow that is alone on the housetop.
8The Lord is compassionate and pitiful, longsuffering, and full of mercy.
8My enemies reproach me all day. Those who are mad at me use my name as a curse.
9He will not be always angry; neither will he be wrathful for ever.
9For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mixed my drink with tears,
10He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor recompensed us according to our iniquities.
10because of your indignation and your wrath; for you have taken me up and thrown me away.
11For as the heaven is high above the earth, the Lord has [so] increased his mercy toward them that fear him.
11My days are like a long shadow. I have withered like grass.
12As far as the east is from the west, [so far] has he removed our transgressions from us.
12But you, Yahweh, will remain forever; your renown endures to all generations.
13As a father pities [his] children, the Lord pities them that fear him.
13You will arise and have mercy on Zion, for it is time to have pity on her. Yes, the set time has come.
14For he knows our frame: remember that we are dust.
14For your servants take pleasure in her stones, and have pity on her dust.
15[As for] man, his days are as grass; as a flower of the field, so shall he flourish.
15So the nations will fear Yahweh’s name, all the kings of the earth your glory.
16For the wind passes over it, and it shall not be; and it shall know its place no more.
16For Yahweh has built up Zion. He has appeared in his glory.
17But the mercy of the Lord is from generation to generation upon them that fear him, and his righteousness to children's children;
17He has responded to the prayer of the destitute, and has not despised their prayer.
18to them that keep his covenant, and remember his commandments to do them.
18This will be written for the generation to come. A people which will be created will praise Yah,
19The Lord has prepared his throne in the heaven; and his kingdom rules over all.
19for he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary. From heaven, Yahweh saw the earth,
20Bless the Lord, all you⌃ his angels, mighty in strength, who perform his bidding, [ready] to listen to the voice of his words.
20to hear the groans of the prisoner, to free those who are condemned to death,
21Bless the Lord, all you⌃ his hosts; [you⌃] ministers of his that do his will.
21that men may declare Yahweh’s name in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem,
22Bless the Lord, all his works, in every place of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.
22when the peoples are gathered together, the kingdoms, to serve Yahweh.
