1(104) [A Psalm] of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you have clothed yourself with praise and honor:
1By David. Praise Yahweh, my soul! All that is within me, praise his holy name!
2who do robe yourself with light as with a garment; spreading out the heaven as a curtain.
2Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits,
3Who covers his chambers with waters; who makes the clouds his chariot; who walks on the wings of the wind.
3who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases,
4Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flaming fire.
4who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies,
5Who establishes the earth on her sure foundation: it shall not be moved for ever.
5who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6The deep, as it were a garment, is his covering: the waters shall stand on the hills.
6Yahweh executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed.
7At your rebuke they shall flee; at the voice of your thunder they shall be alarmed.
7He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the children of Israel.
8They go up to the mountains, and down to the plains, to the place which you have founded for them.
8Yahweh is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.
9You have set a bound which they shall not pass, neither shall they turn again to cover the earth.
9He will not always accuse; neither will he stay angry forever.
10He sends forth his fountains among the valleys: the waters shall run between the mountains.
10He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us for our iniquities.
11They shall give drink to all the wild beasts of the field: the wild asses shall take [of them] to [quench] their thirst.
11For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him.
12By them shall the birds of the sky lodge: they shall utter a voice out of the midst of the rocks.
12As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13He waters the mountains from his chambers: the earth shall be satisfied with the fruit of your works.
13Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him.
14He makes grass to grow for the cattle, and green herb for the service of men, to bring bread out of the earth;
14For he knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust.
15and wine makes glad the heart of man, to make his face cheerful with oil: and bread strengthens man's heart.
15As for man, his days are like grass. As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
16The trees of the plain shall be full [of sap]; [even] the cedars of Libanus which he has planted.
16For the wind passes over it, and it is gone. Its place remembers it no more.
17There the sparrows will build their nests; and the house of the heron takes the lead among them.
17But Yahweh’s loving kindness is from everlasting to everlasting with those who fear him, his righteousness to children’s children,
18The high mountains are a refuge for the stags, [and] the rock for the rabbits.
18to those who keep his covenant, to those who remember to obey his precepts.
19He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knows his going down.
19Yahweh has established his throne in the heavens. His kingdom rules over all.
20You did make darkness, and it was night; in it all the wild beasts of the forest will be abroad:
20Praise Yahweh, you angels of his, who are mighty in strength, who fulfill his word, obeying the voice of his word.
21[even] young lions roaring for prey, and to seek meat for themselves from God.
21Praise Yahweh, all you armies of his, you servants of his, who do his pleasure.
22The sun arises, and they shall be gathered together, and shall lie down in their dens.
22Praise Yahweh, all you works of his, in all places of his dominion. Praise Yahweh, my soul!
