1(121) A Song of Degrees. I lifted up my eyes to the mountains, whence my help shall come.
1A Song of Ascents. In my distress, I cried to Yahweh. He answered me.
2My help [shall come] from the Lord, who made the heaven and the earth.
2Deliver my soul, Yahweh, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.
3Let not your foot be moved; and let not your keeper slumber.
3What will be given to you, and what will be done more to you, you deceitful tongue?
4Behold, he that keeps Israel shall not slumber nor sleep.
4Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.
5The Lord shall keep you: the Lord is your shelter upon your right hand.
5Woe is me, that I live in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
6The sun shall not burn you by day, neither the moon by night.
6My soul has had her dwelling too long with him who hates peace.
7May the Lord preserve you from all evil: the Lord shall keep your soul.
7I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war.
