1A Song of Degrees. Many a time have they warred against me from my youth, let Israel now say:
1A Song of Ascents. Blessed is everyone who fears Yahweh, who walks in his ways.
2Many a time have they warred against me from my youth: and yet they prevailed not against me.
2For you will eat the labor of your hands. You will be happy, and it will be well with you.
3The sinners wrought upon my back: they prolonged their iniquity.
3Your wife will be as a fruitful vine in the innermost parts of your house, your children like olive shoots around your table.
4The righteous Lord has cut asunder the necks of sinners.
4Behold, this is how the man who fears Yahweh is blessed.
5Let all that hate Sion be put to shame and turned back.
5May Yahweh bless you out of Zion, and may you see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
6Let them be as the grass of the housetops, which withers before it is plucked up.
6Yes, may you see your children’s children. Peace be upon Israel.
