1(22) For the end, concerning the morning aid, a Psalm of David. O God, my God, attend to me: why have you forsaken me? the account of my transgressions is far from my salvation.
1For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David. The king rejoices in your strength, Yahweh! How greatly he rejoices in your salvation!
2O my God, I will cry to you by day, but you will not hear: and by night, and [it shall] not [be accounted] for folly to me.
2You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.
3But you, the praise of Israel, dwell in a sanctuary.
3For you meet him with the blessings of goodness. You set a crown of fine gold on his head.
4Our fathers hoped in you; they hoped, and you did deliver them.
4He asked life of you and you gave it to him, even length of days forever and ever.
5They cried to you, and were saved: they hoped in you, and were not ashamed.
5His glory is great in your salvation. You lay honor and majesty on him.
6But I am a worm, and not a man; a reproach of men, and scorn of the people.
6For you make him most blessed forever. You make him glad with joy in your presence.
7All that saw me mocked me: they spoke with [their] lips, they shook the head, [saying],
7For the king trusts in Yahweh. Through the loving kindness of the Most High, he shall not be moved.
8He hoped in the Lord: let him deliver him, let him save him, because he takes pleasure in him.
8Your hand will find out all of your enemies. Your right hand will find out those who hate you.
9For you are he that drew me out of the womb; my hope from my mother's breasts.
9You will make them as a fiery furnace in the time of your anger. Yahweh will swallow them up in his wrath. The fire shall devour them.
10I was cast on you from the womb: you are my God from my mother's belly.
10You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from among the children of men.
11Stand not aloof from me; for affliction is near; for there is no helper.
11For they intended evil against you. They plotted evil against you which cannot succeed.
12Many bullocks have compassed me: fat bulls have beset me round.
12For you will make them turn their back, when you aim drawn bows at their face.
13They have opened their mouth against me, as a ravening and roaring lion.
13Be exalted, Yahweh, in your strength, so we will sing and praise your power.
