1(37) [A Psalm] of David. Fret not yourself because of evil-doers, neither be envious of them that do iniquity.
1For the Chief Musician. By David, the servant of Yahweh. A revelation is within my heart about the disobedience of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes.
2For they shall soon be withered as the grass, and shall soon fall away as the green herbs.
2For he flatters himself in his own eyes, too much to detect and hate his sin.
3Hope in the Lord, and do good; and dwell on the land, and you shall be fed with the wealth of it.
3The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit. He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
4Delight [yourself] in the Lord; and he shall grant you the requests of your heart.
4He plots iniquity on his bed. He sets himself in a way that is not good. He doesn’t abhor evil.
5Disclose your way to the Lord, and hope in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.
5Your loving kindness, Yahweh, is in the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
6And he shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noon-day.
6Your righteousness is like the mountains of God. Your judgments are like a great deep. Yahweh, you preserve man and animal.
7Submit yourself to the Lord, and supplicate him: fret not yourself because of him that prospers in his way, at the man that does unlawful deeds.
7How precious is your loving kindness, God! The children of men take refuge under the shadow of your wings.
8ease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not yourself so as to do evil.
8They shall be abundantly satisfied with the abundance of your house. You will make them drink of the river of your pleasures.
9For evil-doers shall be destroyed: but they that wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the land.
9For with you is the spring of life. In your light we will see light.
10And yet a little while, and the sinner shall not be, and you shall seek for his place, and shall not find [it].
10Oh continue your loving kindness to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight [themselves] in the abundance of peace.
11Don’t let the foot of pride come against me. Don’t let the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12The sinner will watch for the righteous, and gnash his teeth upon him.
12There the workers of iniquity are fallen. They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.
