1For the end, a Psalm [and] Song of David.
1Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2Praise becomes thee, O God, in Sion; and to thee shall the vow be performed.
2Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:
3Hear my prayer; to thee all flesh shall come.
3Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:
4The words of transgressors have overpowered us; but do thou pardon our sins.
4That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
5Blessed [is he] whom thou hast chosen and adopted; he shall dwell in thy courts; we shall be filled with the good things of thy house; thy temple is holy.
5They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?
6[Thou art] wonderful in righteousness. Hearken to us, O God our Saviour; the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them [that are] on the sea afar off:
6They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
7who dost establish the mountains in thy strength, being girded about with power;
7But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
8who troublest the depth of the sea, the sounds of its waves.
8So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.
9The nations shall be troubled, and they that inhabit the ends [of the earth] shall be afraid of thy signs; thou wilt cause the outgoings of morning and evening to rejoice.
9And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
10Thou hast visited the earth, and saturated it; thou hast abundantly enriched it. The river of God is filled with water; thou hast prepared their food, for thus is the preparation [of it].
10The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
