1(71) By David, [a Psalm sung by] the sons of Jonadab, and the first that were taken captive. O Lord, I have hoped in you: let me never be put to shame.
1For the Chief Musician. By David. A reminder. Hurry, God, to deliver me. Come quickly to help me, Yahweh.
2In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me: incline your ear to me, and save me.
2Let them be disappointed and confounded who seek my soul. Let those who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.
3Be to me a protecting God, and a strong hold to save me: for you are my fortress and my refuge.
3Let them be turned because of their shame who say, “Aha! Aha!”
4Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the sinner, from the hand of the transgressor and unjust man.
4Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let those who love your salvation continually say, “Let God be exalted!”
5For you are my support, O Lord; O Lord, [you are] my hope from my youth.
5But I am poor and needy. Come to me quickly, God. You are my help and my deliverer. Yahweh, don’t delay.
