1(86) A Prayer of David. O Lord, incline your ear, and listen to me; for I am poor and needy.
1For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by the sons of Korah. Yahweh, you have been favorable to your land. You have restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2Preserve my soul, for I am holy; save your servant, O God, who hopes in you.
2You have forgiven the iniquity of your people. You have covered all their sin. Selah.
3Pity me, O Lord: for to you will I cry all the day.
3You have taken away all your wrath. You have turned from the fierceness of your anger.
4Rejoice the soul of your servant: for to you, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul.
4Turn us, God of our salvation, and cause your indignation toward us to cease.
5For you, O Lord, are kind, and gentle; and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon you.
5Will you be angry with us forever? Will you draw out your anger to all generations?
6Give ear to my prayer, o Lord; and attend to the voice of my supplication.
6Won’t you revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
7In the day of my trouble I cried to you: for you did hear me.
7Show us your loving kindness, Yahweh. Grant us your salvation.
8There is none like to you, O Lord, among the gods; and there are no [works] like to your works.
8I will hear what God, Yahweh, will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, his saints; but let them not turn again to folly.
9All nations whom you have made shall come, and shall worship before you, O Lord; and shall glorify your name.
9Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.
10For you are great, and do wonders: you are the only [and] the great God.
10Mercy and truth meet together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11Guide me, O Lord, in your way, and I will walk in your truth: let my heart rejoice, that I may fear your name.
11Truth springs out of the earth. Righteousness has looked down from heaven.
12I will give you thanks, O Lord my God, with all my heart; and I will glorify your name for ever.
12Yes, Yahweh will give that which is good. Our land will yield its increase.
13For your mercy is great toward me; and you have delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
13Righteousness goes before him, and prepares the way for his steps.
