¹(86) A Prayer of David. O Lord, incline your ear, and listen to me; for I am poor and needy.

¹For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by the sons of Korah. Yahweh, you have been favorable to your land. You have restored the fortunes of Jacob.

²Preserve my soul, for I am holy; save your servant, O God, who hopes in you.

²You have forgiven the iniquity of your people. You have covered all their sin. Selah.

³Pity me, O Lord: for to you will I cry all the day.

³You have taken away all your wrath. You have turned from the fierceness of your anger.

⁴Rejoice the soul of your servant: for to you, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul.

⁴Turn us, God of our salvation, and cause your indignation toward us to cease.

⁵For you, O Lord, are kind, and gentle; and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon you.

⁵Will you be angry with us forever? Will you draw out your anger to all generations?

⁶Give ear to my prayer, o Lord; and attend to the voice of my supplication.

⁶Won’t you revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

⁷In the day of my trouble I cried to you: for you did hear me.

⁷Show us your loving kindness, Yahweh. Grant us your salvation.

⁸There is none like to you, O Lord, among the gods; and there are no [works] like to your works.

⁸I will hear what God, Yahweh, will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, his saints; but let them not turn again to folly.

⁹All nations whom you have made shall come, and shall worship before you, O Lord; and shall glorify your name.

⁹Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

¹⁰For you are great, and do wonders: you are the only [and] the great God.

¹⁰Mercy and truth meet together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

¹¹Guide me, O Lord, in your way, and I will walk in your truth: let my heart rejoice, that I may fear your name.

¹¹Truth springs out of the earth. Righteousness has looked down from heaven.

¹²I will give you thanks, O Lord my God, with all my heart; and I will glorify your name for ever.

¹²Yes, Yahweh will give that which is good. Our land will yield its increase.

¹³For your mercy is great toward me; and you have delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

¹³Righteousness goes before him, and prepares the way for his steps.
