1(97) For David, when his land is established. The Lord reigns, let the earth exult, let many islands rejoice.
1Sing to Yahweh a new song! Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.
2Cloud, and darkness are round about him; righteousness and judgment are the establishment of his throne.
2Sing to Yahweh! Bless his name! Proclaim his salvation from day to day!
3Fire shall go before him, and burn up his enemies round about.
3Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.
4His lightnings appeared to the world; the earth saw, and trembled.
4For Yahweh is great, and greatly to be praised! He is to be feared above all gods.
5The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
5For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but Yahweh made the heavens.
6The heavens have declared his righteousness, and all the people have seen his glory.
6Honor and majesty are before him. Strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
7Let all that worship graven images be ashamed, who boast of their idols; worship him, all you⌃ his angels.
7Ascribe to Yahweh, you families of nations, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.
8Sion heard and rejoiced; and the daughters of Judea exulted, because of your judgments, O Lord.
8Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due to his name. Bring an offering, and come into his courts.
9For you are Lord most high over all the earth; you are greatly exalted above all gods.
9Worship Yahweh in holy array. Tremble before him, all the earth.
10You⌃ that love the Lord, hate evil; the Lord preserves the souls of his saints; he shall deliver them from the hand of sinners.
10Say among the nations, “Yahweh reigns.” The world is also established. It can’t be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity.
11Light is sprung up for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
11Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice. Let the sea roar, and its fullness!
12Rejoice in the Lord, you⌃ righteous; and give thanks for a remembrance of his holiness.
12Let the field and all that is in it exult! Then all the trees of the woods shall sing for joy
